Ideas on the use of Tatneft's technologies and experience for the benefit of society accumulated gradually, as a result, together they developed into a large-scale project to create a sustainable autonomous energy-efficient settlement based on the village of Aktyubinsky in the Aznakaevsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Tatneft is creating a complex of modern biotechnological industries. For example, thermal insulation materials will be produced from cannabis residues. Flax is made of cellulose. Non-food sugars will be obtained from plant waste. Sewage sludge is suitable for the production of methanol, and the pyrolysis plant already operating today produces biooil and biochar from wood chips, analogues of natural oil and coal, raw materials for petrochemical industries.
