In August 2003, eight grid enterprises of JSC "Novosibirsk Energy" were merged into one enterprise, the branch of "Electric Grids", which was transformed in October 2004 into CJSC "REG".

In June 2012, the type of the organizational and legal form of the Company was changed. The closed Joint–stock Company "Regional Electric Grids" was renamed into the Open Joint-Stock Company "Regional Electric Grids" (abbreviated name - JSC "REG").
